Biogas production potential from cotton wastes
نویسندگان
چکیده
The anaerobic treatability and methane generation potential of three different cotton wastes namely, cotton stalks, cotton seed hull and cotton oil cake were determined in batch reactors. In addition, the effects of nutrient and trace metal supplementation were also investigated. To this purpose biochemical methane potential (BMP) experiments were performed for two different waste concentrations, namely 30 and 60 g/l. The results revealed that cotton wastes can be treated anaerobically and are a good source of biogas. Approximately 65, 86 and 78ml CH4 were produced in 23 days from 1 g of cotton stalks, cotton seed hull and cotton oil cake in the presence of basal medium (BM), respectively. BM supplementation had an important positive affect on the production of biogas. r 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Valorization of municipal solid wastes through biogas production in Iran
Iran is a developing country with a population of over 80 million. The total daily MSWs production in Iran is about 50 million kg. Most of the MSWs in this country is being disposed of in the landfills. Some of the landfills are located in the urban area or near to sea, river, and forest. In this regard, the management of MSWS becomes a concern in Iran. One solution to manage MSWs and mitigate ...

Biogas production from co-digestion of local brewery waste (BW) and cow dung (CD) was study for value added to this solid waste. The objective of this research was to fine the optimum condition for maximum biogas production and also examined the effectiveness of the biogas residue (liquor from anaerobic digestion process) as a nitrogen source for the production of okro. The experiments were per...
متن کاملBiogas Energy Potential in Riau Indonesia
The increasing of crude oil prices recently in the world, the need for an alternative source of fuel in the Indonesia is urgently required. In addition, growing concern about climate change is driving the need for “low-carbon” fuels. One highly potential form of renewable and low-carbon fuel is biogas from anaerobic digestion of organic wastes. Anaerobic digestion is a naturally occurring proce...

Problem statement: An Anaerobic Digestion (AD) process, traditionally applied to wastewater and sewage sludge treatment, has a great potential in the valorization of foodprocessing industry wastes. Approach: This study is focused on the evaluation of the theoretical biogas and methane production of some food wastes, coming out from rice, hazelnut and wine processing, on the grounds of their phy...

Thousands of tons of urban solid waste and human and animal waste in cities and villages of Iran have endangered the health of the environment and increased the greenhouse gases. On the other hand, the increasing trend of energy consumption has caused energy crisis phenomena in the world. Moreover, the increasing consumption of energy from fossil fuels has caused emissions from these fuels. Hen...
